Internet marketing is dead

You know that plan you had, where you were going to improve your website, get someone to optimise it for Google, run some ads, write articles on Facebook and start twittering?  Well, it doesn’t work anymore.  Sorry.

Luckily, it’s still possible to have success for your online business.  The thing to know is that the difficulty levels got much higher.  So, if you’re going to do SEO, find yourself someone outstanding.  Same for PPC.  Just anyone won’t do.

I see huge numbers of advertisers in my competitive niches and I just know that almost all of them are losing money at it.  Whether they know it or not.  I know this because most of them aren’t even using the basic techniques, while the real money is being made with advanced techniques.  You won’t find these advanced techniques in any book or seminar, they’re what you learn by relentless testing and by putting in the hours.

While we’re on the subject, here’s some advice for free.  You aren’t going to save your business with social media.  I know of very few people who had much success with this.  For most it’s a giant time suck.  It does have value, but in indirect ways you don’t hear so much about.

Anyway, the point of this article is this: Despite the hype, if you want to sell in this current environment hire real experts or be ready to become one yourself.
